========================================================================== NOTES BUILD INSTALLATION HINTS ========================================================================== When a Mach4 update is installed, all of the default screen sets and default profiles WILL be overwritten. This will cause your customized configuration to be lost if it is still stored with the default name. Saving your custom work is usually desirable, but don't ignore the new default profiles and screens. They often add major new features to the system. In order to take advantage of the new features you will need to start with the new defaults and redo your customization. In order to make sure that you do not lose any of your configuration you should have your profile saved with a name different from the default. For example, if you have customized the Mach4Mill profile, you should use the Mach4Loader icon on your desktop to copy the version of Mach4Mill that you are using and save it as a new profile with a new name. This will create a new folder with that name inside the Profiles folder in Mach4Hobby folder. Your new profile folder will contain ALMOST everything that is custom about your configuration. Things that may not be there are: 1) Any CUSTOMIZED screen set. These are stored in the Screens folder in the Mach4Hobby folder. If you have edited one of the default screens you NEED to back this up, or better yet, you should copy it to a file with a new name and edit your configuration to use the newly named screen set. 2) Any LUA modules that have been modified. If you do not know what this means, then you have not modified any of them. Installing a package from an OEM vendor (such as a plasma screen set) may have added modules to your system. 3) PMC configuration files (programmable logic controller). If you have not edited any PMC configurations, then you need not worry. 4) Screen set items such as groups or tabs that have been exported for reuse. -END-
